any geology or earth science course, or get
consent of the instructor.
Application of the principles of geology to
interpret rock sequences and tectonic structures
in the central part of the Sierra Nevada,
including Yosemite National Park and the Sonora
Pass region. Requires ability to work and study
under rigorous conditions. Field trips are
required. Not repeatable. (A-F or P/NP) Transfer:
(CSU)

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon satisfactory completion of this course, the
student should be prepared to:

1. Identify the characteristic rock and mineral
specimens, landforms, and geologic
structures found in the Central Sierra Nevada,
including Yosemite National Park and the
Sonora Pass region.

2. Model the geologic history of the central
Sierra Nevada based on field observations of rock
and structure relationships.
